There was a time when Shah Rukh Khan too regretted his decision not to take a stand for Aishwarya at that time, despite her being his good friend. This old video of the Jawan star shows him expressing his disappointment over replacing Aishwarya with Rani because he was also a producer.
Shah Rukh Khan had openly apologised to Aishwarya for the same. "Yes obviously, Aishwarya was a very close friend and I have done marvelous films with her. I personally was very saddened to reach something at this level and I feel very sorry about it and I genuinely do. As a producer my hand was very tight because I am not the only producer, we felt the whole affair was very sad, it was not meant to be. It was not a superstitious but a professional decision and even professionally we feel very bad, there are no two ways about it."
