Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has been receiving immense love from the viewers. Well, Bhansali is known for creating mesmerizing cinematic worlds. Production designer and art director Subrata Chakraborty has collaborated with Bhansali on films such as Padmaavat, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Heeramandi and more recently shared insights into the filmmaker's unique approach to set design.

Chakraborty described Bhansali's passion and enthusiasm for his sets. Well, in a recent interview, Chakraborty said that sir would accompany them and they would have endless discussions about how the set would look like. He even added that the entire process is to capture the perfect essence of Bhansali's vision which gets translated for real.
Chakraborty said that for Heeramandi the team aimed to recreate Bombay's old charm and they created two-story buildings with large balconies, chowks, and mosques. The entire set design team gave it a distressed look to showcase the historic Kamathipura area.

He even said that the best part of designing the sets is the time when Bhansali sees it for the first time. Chakraborty said that Bhansali gets excited as a child and keeps praising the work.
