Sharda Sinha, the voice of Chhath Puja songs, dies at 72

Bhojpuri singer Sharda Sinha who was also know as Bihar Kokila passed away at the age of 72. She was battling for life at AIIMS hospital in Delhi. Her son had shared the health update and revealed that she was on ventilator. Sharda Sinha reportedly passed away due to refractory shock as a result of septicemia. Sharda Sinha was majorly known for her songs about Chhath Puja that became immensely popular. In the year 1991, she had received Padma Shri award and 2018, she was honoured with Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award. Apart from the folk songs, she also sang a few melodies for Bollywood films. She was the voice behind the song Babul Jo Tum Ne Sikhaya from Hum Aapke Hain Koun. She also sang Kahe Toh Se Sajna from the movie Maine Pyar Kiya.

On her official social media account, a post was made on behalf of her son Anshuman announcing the demise of Sharda Sinha. All her fans are mourning the loss. Her demise has left a void that will never be fulfilled.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to his social to pen a note mourning the loss.

Her son Anshuman Sinha gave constant updates about her health. In the last video, he had revealed that the condition of Sharda Sinha is critical and asked everyone to send in prayers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too took constant updates about her health. A lot of politicians did pay a visit to Sharda Sinha and family in the hospital. May her soul rest in peace.
