Yesterday, on September 20, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) shared a post on their official X account, where they made the announcement of Mohanlal getting the Dadasaheb Phalke award for his contribution to cinema at the 71st National Film Awards. The awards are going to take place on September 23, 2025. In the said post, the ministry talked about Mohanlal's remarkable journey, which inspires generations. The post read, ""On the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, the Government of India is pleased to announce that Shri. Mohanlal will be conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023."

Soon after the official announcement made by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, also took to X (formerly Twitter). There, he congratulated the Malayalam industry legend for receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke award.

In the post, he wrote, "Shri Mohanlal Ji epitomizes excellence and versatility. With a rich body of work spanning decades, he stands as a leading light of Malayalam cinema and theater and is deeply passionate about the culture of Kerala. He has also delivered remarkable performances in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films. His cinematic and theatrical brilliance across mediums is truly inspiring."
