Bison Kaalamaadan, the much-anticipated Tamil film, is finally released in the theaters. The Dhruv Vikram starrer was released yesterday, on October 17, 2025. Bison has been in the talks for a while because of its strong narratives, staggering cinematography, and the intense transformation Dhruv went through for the role. Written and directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, the film has already set high expectations among fans and cinephiles alike because of its socially significant and emotionally driven narrative. Dhruv Vikram's Diwali release is facing tough competition from Keerthiswaran's debut, Dude. The Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju starrer was also released on 17 October, and the box office seems like it is in a Diwali battle right now.
Bison or Dude, which earned more on Day 1?
According to Sacnilk, Dude performed amazingly well on the opening day. With an overall 48.85% Tamil occupancy, according to early estimates, the film earned around Rs. 10 crore in India net on its first day for all languages, making it surpass the opening of Love Today.
On the other hand, according to early estimates by Sacnilk, Bison Kaalamaadan earned around 2.50 Cr India net on its first day.
The numbers are clear, and Dude dominated the opening day race by a huge margin. The film's regional appeal, as well as the smart marketing leading to a lot of advance bookings, clearly has worked in its favor, while Bison is running on word of mouth.
But that is not to undermine the performance of Bison, since the niche sports drama has still earned decently according to the genre it is in.
